Many organizations recognize UNC as one of the leading “green” schools in the country. Our past accomplishments and future plans to further integrate sustainability into our academics and campus environment depend on the support and participation of the whole campus community. Leading the campus-wide effort and recommending long-term sustainability goals for the University is the Vice Chancellor’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, which broadly represent all campus constituencies.
It is the role of the Sustainability Office to work with campus partners to develop and document sustainable policies, practices and curricula. The University has become a silver-level certified Charter Participant in the AASHE STARS program, which will help the University measure progress toward a wide range of sustainability goals.
