Recognizing the need to involve decision makers from both the academic and operational arms of campus in sustainability efforts, the Sustainability Advisory Committee was formed in January 2005. Committee members broadly represent all campus constituencies; provide expertise in planning, operations, academics, research, and student life; and bring their unique familiarity with various aspects of sustainability.
Advising Bruce Carney, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, and Karol Gray, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, the Committee recommends long-term sustainability goals for the University and the means to achieve them. Members examine existing incentives and disincentives and propose more effective strategies. Committee members champion these strategies and communicate them to each member’s respective area so that all stakeholders take ownership.
