"The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2013 Edition" recognizes Carolina as a national leader in campus sustainability. This free downloadable guide, published in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), highlights colleges that scored at least 83 on its 99 point scale. Carolina’s Green Rating of 95 recognizes investments in high performance infrastructure, advancement towards climate neutrality, and student engagement in green initiatives. Twenty-one schools made the Green Rating Honor Roll by attaining perfect scores.

UNC has been selected as a “Sustainable 16” school in the Enviance March Madness Environmental Tournament! Help UNC advance to the next round, the “Environmental 8,” by submitting a short video, essay, or photos highlighting UNC’s environmental curriculum and sustainability achievements. Entries are due by March 8. Participating students with the most compelling supporting materials at “Finest 4” schools can score a tablet. The Universitas Indonesia’s annual GreenMetric report rates campuses worldwide on their sustainability programs. Carolina ranked 8th in the world and 4th in the United States in 2012. Campuses were evaluated in six categories: setting and infrastructure; energy and climate change; waste management; water usage; transportation; and education. The Carolina Green pledge, the Commuter Alternative Program (CAP), community gardens, and programs to make student housing more eco-friendly were noted among the accomplishments. The University of Connecticut ranked first, and three other U.S. universities ̶ Northeastern, UCLA, and the University of California Merced ̶ made the top ten list. The Edward Kidder Graham Award honors a graduating senior who has made an outstanding contribution to the University as a member of an officially recognized student organization. During Erin’s tenure as co-chair of RESPC, the committee researched and approved approximately $500,000 of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Erin was closely involved in every project and decision while effectively delegating work to her peers, supervising their progress, and interacting with university project managers.
